LPCC Release Outcomes
Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex is the parish’s long-term holding facility. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office also accepts people arrested by the City of Thibodaux, Town of Lockport, Town of Golden Meadow, Port Fourchon Harbor Police, Louisiana State Police, and other state or federal agencies. The agency that made the arrest, the authority that ordered confinement, and the custodian that receives the person next may all differ. For that reason, “released from LPCC” describes only the end of LPCC custody until the disposition field identifies what followed.
A local pretrial booking may end after completed bond processing, a personal-recognizance order, a dismissal, or another court-authorized release. A person serving a parish term may leave after time served or sentence completion. Someone sentenced to Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections custody may instead leave LPCC on transport to a state placement. Another parish, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration authorities may also take custody. The release or transfer record should state the type, authority, date and time, and receiving agency when one exists.
Confirm an LPCC Release
The official LPSO inmate portal is a current or snapshot custody tool. Its local configuration allows searches by name and other current-custody fields, but it does not publish a release-date column or a recent-release archive. An absent result can be caused by release, transfer, spelling, timing, a changed booking, or movement to a different system. Use it to start the inquiry, not to close it.
- Match the full legal name with date of birth, booking number, case number, or arrest date when known.
- Search the LPSO roster and record the query date. A current match supports LPCC custody at that snapshot.
- Call LPCC and ask whether the booking ended in community release, transfer, or continued custody under another authority.
- Check Louisiana LAVNS when state imprisonment or community supervision is plausible. Read the reporting agency and status.
- Request the LPSO booking, release, and transfer fields. Use the court minute for the judge’s order or case disposition.
For a sentenced federal case, the Bureau of Prisons locator may later show a federal record, but it does not cover every pretrial or transport stage. ICE’s locator is aimed at current immigration custody. Each federal search should follow evidence that the named authority actually received the person. The full parish-level search and records chain is also set out on the Lafourche Parish released inmates search.
Note: LAVNS is an alert and locator layer, while an agency release record is the stronger source for the exact LPCC event.
LPCC Release Records Contact
Recent booking questions belong with the facility. Formal record requests go to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office custodian. Calling first can resolve whether the inquiry concerns LPCC, the Transitional Work Program, South Lafourche, or another authority. When documents are needed, use the official form and describe the precise booking and event instead of asking broadly for “all records.”

The LPSO public-record request form asks for requester contact data and a specific description. Include the person’s full name, aliases, date of birth, approximate booking date, and booking number if known. Ask for booking time, release date and time, release type, authority ordering release, public charges and holds, bond-processing completion, and any receiving agency or destination. The form states that a fee may apply but does not publish the amount, so request an estimate before copies are made.
Send the form to Custodian of Records Chief Deputy Roy Gros, P.O. Box 5608, Thibodaux, LA 70302, or roy-gros@lpso.net. Louisiana public-record rules permit exemptions and redactions, so request any reasonably separable public fields if part of a file is withheld. A court minute can supplement the jail record by showing bond action, sentence, probation, dismissal, or commitment, but it may not show the exact gate time.
LPCC Custody and Release Scale
The official LPCC page identifies the complex as the current parish jail and links its custody functions. The opening announcement described an approximately $40 million, 125,000-square-foot building with capacity for 533 people. Those figures describe the site, not how many people are released in a year. They should never be used to estimate an individual’s release time or a release-list total.
LPCC does not publish a verified standard release hour, weekend schedule, public waiting point, transportation routine, property-return process, or gate-money policy. A family member should ask the facility about the specific booking rather than rely on a custom attributed to another jail. Bond payment likewise does not prove that all holds and paperwork have cleared. The recorded release time is the best evidence of completed processing.
LPCC Release Records Since 2019
LPCC began operating in January 2019 and permanently replaced the former Lafourche Parish Detention Center. That change matters when requesting older records. A pre-2019 booking may name the former jail, while the present custodian remains LPSO. The Lafourche Clerk’s criminal index and minute entries can help connect an old facility name to the correct docket and disposition.
Historical requests should state the old facility name, approximate booking period, subject’s identifiers, and known case number. They should not be sent to the closed building. For newer records, identify LPCC as the releasing or transferring facility. This facility-name split prevents a custodian from searching only the current complex when the event occurred under the prior jail’s name.
Note: the 2019 replacement changed the physical jail, not the need to trace old bookings through LPSO and the Clerk.
LPCC Release Record Fields
A precise request is more useful than asking whether someone “got out.” The public record may use a local disposition label, and not every field will be available. Still, the response should be read for identifiers, event details, and destination. Silence in one field does not prove that no hold or transfer existed.
- Release date and time
- The recorded end of the LPCC event, which should be distinguished from the time an order was signed.
- Release type
- The stated basis, such as bond, recognizance, time served, sentence complete, court order, or transfer.
- Receiving agency
- The custodian that accepted the person when the departure was not community release.
- Discharge
- An end to the relevant legal custody status, which is broader than departure from one building.
Also match the booking number, full name, aliases, birth date, arrest date, releasing facility, charge or hold disposition, and order or bond authority. If the record states “released to” an agency, preserve that exact wording. Recasting a transfer as freedom can send a search down the wrong path.
When the record lacks a field, use the source best suited to that gap. The Clerk can supply the case disposition and judicial authority. DPS&C can address state custody and public discharge information. LPCC remains the source for its own physical movement. A mismatch may reflect different event stages rather than an error, so compare dates, agencies, and labels before asking either custodian to correct a record.
